WHAT DO I DO AFTER AN ACCIDENT?

Whether you are insured by ICBC or a private insurance company, call and give them the specific details about what has happened. This process is called “filing a claim”. They will issue you a claim number and may give you a list of ICBC accredited or private insurance repair shops in your area. The shops that fix your vehicle are called “Body Shops” or “Collision Repair” shops. They are both the same thing.

WHERE DO I TAKE MY VEHICLE FOR MY REPAIR?

The more informed consumer you are, the easier it will be to choose the right shop for you. You may find it helpful to start your decision making process by asking friends and family to make a recommendation. Internet searches can also bring value by offering the opportunity for you to see company reviews. If you receive a list of collision repair shops from your insurance company, you may want to use this information while doing your internet search as well. Insurance companies may sway their customers towards their preferred shops - it is always your decision where to take your vehicle for repairs.

DOES NEW PLANET COLLISION DO GLASS ONLY CLAIMS?

If glass replacement is all that is required, a specialized glass shop will be able to assist your needs. If there is additional damage inclusive of glass, New Planet Collision is able to accommodate!

I HAVE DECIDED WHICH SHOP I WANT TO USE, WHAT'S NEXT?

You are under no obligation to proceed with your repair after the estimate; it is always your choice. Your estimate will give you and the shop an idea of the time required to complete the job and the approximate cost of repairs.

HOW LONG IS AN ESTIMATE AND WHAT IS NEEDED?

Estimate times can vary by shop but generally they will be completed within 15-30 minutes.

Our average time for an estimate is 15 minutes. If this is for an insurance claim, please bring your claim number and insurance papers into the office. Have a seat, enjoy a coffee, read a magazine and relax until your estimate is completed.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER THE ESTIMATE?

After the approval has been given, your parts will be ordered (if required). When the parts have arrived, we work with you to find a suitable time for repairs. After the estimate, the average time frame to be contacted is three to five days.

WHEN CAN I BRING MY VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR?

On average, you can expect to drop off your vehicle within two days, up to two weeks. Time frames are dependent on volume of work, part availability, and your alternate transportation requirements.

HOW LONG WILL MY REPAIR TAKE TO COMPLETE?

Auto body repairs can take anywhere from fifteen minutes and up. This is dependent on the type of repair required. Generally, repairs are completed within two to four days however; this is a very broad guideline. During the estimate, we will discuss your specific repair and keep you updated regularly throughout the process.

WHEN DO I HAVE TO PAY MY DEDUCTIBLE?

If you are required to pay a deductible, it becomes payable at the time you pick up your vehicle. All payables are due at the end of repairs.
